Baron Brownlow

Baron Brownlow , of Belton in the County of Lincoln , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .

Awarding and other titles

The title was created on May 20, 1776 for Sir Brownlow Cust, 4th Baronet . He had been a Member of the House of Commons for Ilchester and Grantham .

His son, John Cust, 2nd Baron Brownlow , was awarded the titles Earl Brownlow and Viscount Alford , of Alford in the County of Lincoln, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1815 . These titles expired on the death of his grandson Adelbert Brownlow-Cust, 3rd Earl Brownlow on March 17, 1921. The title of Baron Brownlow fell to his second cousin, Adelbert Cockayne-Cust , as the 5th Baron.
