Earl of Kimberley , of Kimberley in the County of Norfolk , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was bestowed on June 1, 1866, the liberal politician John Wodehouse, 3rd Baron Wodehouse . This had previously been Lord Lieutenant of Ireland . In the following years he held numerous other government offices, including being Lord Seal Keeper and Foreign Minister .

The Earl of Kimberley had held the subordinate titles of 3rd Baron Wodehouse , of Kimberley in the County of Norfolk, and 8th Baronet , of Wilberhall in the County of Norfolk, since 1846 . The former was given to his great-grandfather in the Peerage of Great Britain on October 26, 1797 , and the latter to his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather on June 29, 1611 in the Baronetage of England
