Baron Middleton

Baron Middleton , of Middleton in the County of Warwick , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .

Award

The title was created on January 1, 1712 for the House of Commons Sir Thomas Willoughby, 2nd Baronet .

In 1688 he had inherited the Willoughby Baronetcy , of Wollaton in the County of Nottingham , from his older brother Francis Willoughby, which had been awarded to Thomas in 1677 in the Baronetage of England with a corresponding special note in favor of Thomas. The baronetcy has since been a subordinate title of the baron.

Today his descendant Michael Willoughby holds the title as 13th Baron.

The family's seats were Wollaton Hall in Nottingham and Middleton Hall in North Warwickshire . The current family seat is Birdsall Hall in Malton , North Yorkshire .
