Earl of Midleton

Earl of Midleton was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . The title was named after the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland .

Award

The title was created on February 2, 1920 for St John Brodrick, 9th Viscount Midleton . Together with the Earldom he was given the subordinate title Viscount Dunsford , of Dunsford in the County of Surrey .

In 1907 he had the title 9th Viscount Midleton , of Midleton in the County of Cork , created in 1717 in the Peerage of Ireland , 9th Baron Brodrick , of Midleton in the County of Cork, created in 1715 in the Peerage of Ireland and by his father 6. Baron Brodrick , of Peper Harrow in the County of Surrey, created 1796 in the Peerage of Great Britain , inherited.

When the second earl died childless in 1979, the Earldom and Viscountcy Dunsford became extinct. The Viscountcy Midleton and the two baronies Brodrick inherited his second cousin Trevor Brodrick (1903-1988).

Ancestral seat of the Earls was Peper Harrow near Godalming in Surrey.
