Earl of Kinnoull (more rarely Earl of Kinnoul ) is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .

The Earl's family seat was Dupplin Castle , southwest of Perth , and is now Pitkindle House near Abernyte in Perthshire .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created on May 25, 1633 for George Hay, 1st Viscount of Dupplin . He comes from a branch of the Hay family .

As early as May 4, 1627, he was awarded the titles Viscount (of) Dupplin and Lord Hay of Kinfauns in the Peerage of Scotland .

The later 7th Earl was also awarded the title Baron Hay , of Pedwardine in the County of Hereford, in the Peerage of Great Britain on December 31, 1711 , with which an hereditary seat in the House of Lords was connected until 1999 .

The heir ( Heir Apparent ) is William Thomas Charles Hay, Viscount Dupplin (* 2011), son of the present Earl.
