Earl of Saint Germans , in the County of Cornwall , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom , named after the town of St. Germans in Cornwall.

The Earls family seat is in Port Eliot near Saltash in Cornwall.

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created in 1815 for John Eliot, 2nd Baron Eliot . The award was made with the special addition that in the absence of male descendants of his own, the title could also be inherited by his brother William Eliot and his male descendants.

As early as 1804 he had inherited the title Baron Eliot , of St. Germans in the County of Cornwall, awarded to him in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1784 from his father . This has since been listed as a subordinate title to the Earl, and the Earl's apparent marriage bears the courtesy title of Lord Eliot derived from it .
