Viscount St. John
Viscount St. John , in the County of Lincoln , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .
Award
On July 2, 1716, the title was created for Henry St. John . Along with the Viscountcy he was awarded the subordinate title of Baron St. John , of Battersea in the County of Surrey . As early as 1708 he had inherited the title of 5th Baronet St. John, of Lidiard Tregoze in the County of Wilts, from his father, which had been awarded to his grandfather in 1611 in the Baronetage of England.
The 3rd Viscount, inherited from his father's half-brother in 1751 the titles Viscount Bolingbroke and Baron St. John , of Lydiard Tregoze in the County of Wilts , which had been awarded to him in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1712. The Viscountcies St. John and Bolingbroke have since been united.
