The Earth Policy Institute (EPI) was an American environmental organization .

The Earth Policy Institute was based in Washington, DC The institute was founded in 2001 by Lester R. Brown . The aim of the institute was to draw the public's attention to environmental problems , especially permanent climatic changes .

For this purpose, the employees created expert reports and reports. The most important publication was Eco-Economy: Building an Economy for the Earth . In another publication, Plan B 2.0 , a way was presented how the global economy can grow sustainably without unnecessarily using dwindling resources.

The Earth Policy Institute was closed on June 30, 2015 due to Lester Brown's retirement. Rutgers University will continue to operate its website, but will no longer be updated.
