Easar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Easar Breac , also Esarg and Esar Brec , is a legendary figure from the Celtic mythology of Ireland . He is mentioned in Lebor Gabála Érenn ("The Book of the Lands of Ireland") as the son of the former Neit and father of the healer of the Túatha Dé Danann , Dian Cecht . Since he is only mentioned in passing in the above-mentioned role as father or son in the Irish legends that have survived, little else is known about him.

There are two different derivations of the name, one connects it with the Irish word eas for "waterfall", the other tries to derive it from the root * aisu with the meaning "fire" or "heat".

The esoteric direction of Celtic Neopaganism connects Easar Breac with the Gallic god Esus and interprets him as a hunting or fire deity.
