Eckhard Krumpholz

Eckhard Krumpholz (born May 4, 1966 in Limburg ) is a German photo artist. He is engaged in photography under and above water.

Life

Eckhard Krumpholz was born on May 4, 1966 in Limburg. He spent his childhood in breaking down . He spent his high school in Limburg, where he graduated from the Tilemannschule in 1985. This was followed by 24 months of community service.

In 1981, Krumpholz bought his first reflex camera. With this he won the first Photo Prize in 1982 (Laughing acolytes at the episcopal ordination of Franz Kamphaus ).

In 1987 he began studying administrative sciences in Frankfurt am Main and graduated with a degree in administrative management. In 1989 he completed an internship in a photo laboratory in Cologne.

In 1994 Krumpholz acquired his diving license; then he gained his first experience with underwater photography in Thailand with a Nikonos IV. 1995/96 further stays abroad followed (including Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Madagascar, Mauritius, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore).

1996–2005 Krumpholz ran his own photo studio in Niederbruch.

In 1998 he trained as a diving instructor and learned how to use an underwater mirror reflex camera.

Krumpholz has specialized in underwater photography since 1998; he publishes in numerous national and international journals; u. a. Geo-Season, Chip Photo Video; Fotomagazin, Fotoforum, Nikon-Pro, pds-Photo-Shop, Atlantis, Aquanaut, Taucher, Unterwasser, Unterwasserwelt, Globetrotter, Aqva (Italy), Duiken (Netherlands), predelnaja glubina (Russia), Asian Diver (Singapore), Action Asia (Hong Kong). Since 1999 he has been successfully participating in underwater photo championships, including a. he was multiple Hessen master and German master in various disciplines.

Since 2000, Krumpholz has been a speaker for various underwater photo workshops and specialist magazines; u. a. Workshop leader for Nikon School in Düsseldorf, Photo Summit Oberstdorf, Seetours on the AIDA Club Ship in the Caribbean, UW Photo Days on the Attersee; Underwater, aquanaut, photo forum. He is also a speaker at the Boot Düsseldorf and Photokina trade fairs in Cologne, and a speaker at association workshops for the Association of German Sports Divers and the Hessian Diving Association.

Krumpholz has been working intensively on the Lahn since 2004 . He created long-term documentation from the source to the mouth - above and below the water. For this he received the Nassau Culture Prize in 2005. Various television broadcasters (including hr, swf, zdf) produced documentations about Krumpholz's lame documentation. Since 2007 he has been a freelance author at the diving magazine Unterwasser, since 2008 a juror at the “visons” photo competition of the magazine Unterwasser and author of underwater photo schools for FotoMagazin, Atlantis, FotoForum, Unterwasser.

To date, Krumpholz has completed over 1,000 dives and traveled to over 60 countries.

Krumpholz has been married since 2006 and has two children.
