Eckhard Meineke

Eckhard Meineke (* 1953 in Northeim , Lower Saxony ) is a German linguist who has been professor for the history of the German language at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena since 1994 .

Life

Meineke studied from 1972 to 1977 a. a. with Rudolf Schützeichel , Heinrich Tiefenbach , Eberhard Wilhelm Schulz , Hans-Jürgen Teuteberg , Karl Hauck , Gottfried Prachner and Willi Oelmüller at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster German studies, history and philosophy. In 1983 he received his doctorate in Münster on the subject of Saint-Mihiel Bibliothèque Municipale Ms. 25. Studies on Old High German glosses; In 1989 he completed his habilitation in Münster with the work Abstract Formations in Old High German. Ways to develop them.

After substitute professorships in Regensburg and Dresden, he was appointed professor for the history of the German language at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in 1994.

research

Meineke's research focuses on the history of the German language from its beginnings to the present day, especially Old High German and Middle High German, word formation, semantics and onomastics.
