The Edificio La Unión y el Fénix Español in Madrid at Calle de Alcalá , Numer 23 is a former clinic building of what was once the largest Spanish insurance company La Unión y el Fénix Español . The twelve-story skyscraper based on the New York model was built from 1928 to 1931 by the architect Modesto López Otero with the help of Miguel de los Santos . The crowning sculpture was made by the sculptor Vicente Camps Brú . The building is now used as a hotel.
