Egger (patrician family)
The Egger family was from Aarau Dating Bernese patrician family that from 1601 the burgers right of Bern and in 1768 became extinct in the male line.
During the period of the increasingly differentiated patriciate, Den Egger managed to take a seat on the Grand Council as the third generation and to hold offices of the republic in the following three generations. The rise of the family active in the construction industry was achieved through the third marriage of pastor Johannes Egger I in 1647 to Genoveva Steck, the second daughter of the law professor Johann Steck .
