Egyptian Hall
The Egyptian Hall ( dt. : Egyptian Hall ) in Piccadilly , London was in 1812 by the antiquarian William Bullock for £ 16,000, - built as a museum to accommodate his collection, the architect was John Buonarotti Papworth (1775-1847).
In 1819 he sold his collection and converted the museum into an exhibition hall. In May 1821 Giovanni Battista Belzoni opened his exhibition on Seti I here . In 1825, the bookseller George Lackington became the owner. Albert Richard Smith appeared in this hall for the first time on March 15, 1852 with a show about his ascent of Mont Blanc . From 1873 onwards, Maskelyne & Cooke held their magic performances in the hall . From 1886, the New English Art Club exhibition took place here annually as a counter-event to the show of the Royal Academy of Arts . In 1905 the building was demolished for an office block.
