Grove of honor of the Danish State Railways
The honor grove of the Danish State Railways ( Danish DSB Mindelund ) is a memorial for Danish railway workers .
The park is located in the ramparts of the Holstein Bastion in the west of the city of Fredericia . Until May 14, 1935, the city's railway station and depot was located there .
Memorial plaques remember the employees of the Danske Statsbaner (DSB) ( German Danish State Railways ) who perished in the civil service, including the 280 employees who died between 1899 and 1924. After the Second World War , the memorial was expanded to include a memorial for railway workers who lost their lives during the German occupation between 1940 and 1945 in the fight against the occupying forces.
The memorial was inaugurated on October 29, 1939 in the presence of Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning and Mayor Frantz Hansen. The city had provided the site.
The Dansk Jernbaneforbund , Dansk Lokomotivmandsforening , Jernbaneforeningen and Værksteds- og Remisearbejdernes Fællesorganisation have taken care of the memorial .
