Eibon is a Death Doom band from Paris that was founded in 2005 .

history

Eibon were founded as the successor to the French death metal band Drowning by bassist Stephane Rivière and guitarist and singer Georges Balafas. Then there was the drummer Jerome Lachaud, who had played with Rivière in the death doom band Garden of Silence , as well as the guitarists Max Hedin and Guillaume Taliercio.

In 2007, Eibon released a split EP with the stoner-doom band Hangman's Chair through Bones Brigade Records. The band described the reviews as particularly positive. The EP was sold out within half a year. In the same year the band went on tour for the first time.

In 2009 two more songs by the band, also recorded in 2007, were released as EP Asleep and Threatening / Staring at the Abyss on Aesthetic Death . The music that had been primarily aggressive up to that point was supplemented by more complex structures. In the same year Eibon began recording their first studio album. Entering Darkness was released on Aesthetic Death in 2010. The debut album was received mostly positively. Another split EP was released in October of the same year, this time with HKY on the French label MusicFearSatan . Shortly thereafter, Eibon released a compilation that summarized the first EP and the album.

In September 2013 Eibon recorded her second studio album II in a live set with Sylvain Biguet .

style

Eibon's music is “characterized by a mixture of dark (funeral) doom metal , dirty drone , aggressive sludge and depressive black metal .” Most of the vocals are described as “ dark-scratchy ” and that of Carl McCoy in the project The Nefilim compared, but on the other hand " Black Metal screeching " is also presented.

The overall musical picture is described as "booming" and "dark". The music is often characterized by long instrumental, melodic and acoustic passages. The guitars are recorded roughly and roughly. The bass game is described as "gnarled".
