Federal design competition

The Federal Design Competition is the most important national design competition in Switzerland and has been organized annually by the Federal Office of Culture since 1918.

There are the categories of fashion and textile design , graphic design , photography , products and objects as well as design brokers in which there are several awards. The jury consists of seven members elected by the Federal Council and two invited experts. Around 18 Federal Design Awards are awarded each year . The prize money is 25,000 francs . The exhibition Design Awards of the Swiss Confederation presents the work of the award winners and the Grands Prix Design once a year in Zurich .

In 2012, the current age limit of 40 years for applicants was lifted.

Grand Prix Design

The Grand Prix Design has also been awarded since 2007. This honors designers or design offices who have contributed to the reputation of Swiss design on a national and international level. In 2012 three Grand Prix Design were awarded.
