Design Prize Switzerland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swiss Design Prize has been awarded since 1991 and, alongside the Federal Design Competition, is the leading design prize in Switzerland . As an association, the Swiss Design Prize was organizationally linked to the founding main initiator Design Center Langenthal AG. In 2018, Michel Hueter, Raphael Rossel and Urs Stampfli took over the sponsorship regardless of the previous connection.

The prize is awarded every two years as an award for “outstanding Swiss design”. The two-stage competition with nomination and award is aimed at Swiss designers, brands, companies and institutions that work here or abroad. Foreign designers who study, work or work for Swiss companies in Switzerland are also admitted.

Products as well as research projects, processes, concepts and projects from all relevant design disciplines are awarded. Diploma theses are represented as well as trademarks, producers or institutes.

The nomination teams and the jury see design as the result of an integrated development process that uses the opportunities along the value chain and thus develops added value.
