Jürgen Peter Ravens

Jürgen-Peter Ravens (born July 11, 1932 in Winsen (Luhe) ; † December 15, 2012 there ) was a German journalist , newspaper publisher and author .

Life

After graduating from high school at the Johanneum Lüneburg in 1952, Ravens initially completed a one-year internship at the Stader Tageblatt . He then studied history, newspaper studies and philosophy with a focus on Eastern European history in Tübingen , Freiburg im Breisgau , Vienna and Munich . In 1963 he was at Georg Stadtmüller a study on the state and the Catholic Church in Prussia Polish division areas (1772-1807) Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1963 to 1966 Ravens worked as a freelance journalist before he took over the management of the publishing house Winsener Anzeiger Ravens & Maack GmbH and the post of editor-in-chief in 1967 after his father's death . In addition to the daily newspaper, he also published the advertising paper m + h-Wochenblatt from 1972 . From 1972 to 2011 he was also managing director of the Lower Saxony newspaper publisher Lüneburg GmbH, a cooperation between six Lower Saxony daily newspapers.

In addition, Ravens was committed to local and local history. He wrote several essays and books about Lower Saxon people and cities such as the Bardengau , the Delmenhorster Grafengruft and the history of the newspaper industry in the Lower Saxon city. In addition, he headed the local history and museum association in his home town of Winsen an der Luhe for many years. This commitment to local history led to the award of the Federal Cross of Merit in 1996 .

In addition, Ravens was also active in fiction. In 1986, under the pseudonym Jan von Winsen, he published stories about his childhood during the Nazi era with the title Parole Blau-Gelb-Rot and in 1998 the novel Our Little Newspaper .

Jürgen Peter Ravens was married and had three children.
