history

Eidsiva Rederi was founded in 1930 by Sverre Ditlev-Simonsen as Sverre Ditlev-Simonsen & Co and has been listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange since the same year . The shipping company initially operated several general cargo ships and tankers . With the start of the production of North Sea oil , Eidsiva specialized in drilling ships , which operated under the subsidiary SDS Drilling AS . The company was sold to the Ross Offshore Group in 1990 and later to Transocean .

With the sale, Eidsiva changed its strategy again and shifted the business field to the field of bulk freight . In the mid-1990s this plan was also not pursued and Eidsiva entered the ro-ro , car transport and ferry markets .

In July 2010, Eidsiva merged with the Norwegian car transport company Dyvi Shipping AS and was renamed Norwegian Car Carriers ASA (NOCC) .
