Oslo Stock Exchange

The Oslo Stock Exchange ( Norwegian Oslo Børs ), the Stock Exchange of Norway , located in the Norwegian capital Oslo . The OBX Index is the main financial index on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

history

The Oslo Stock Exchange was founded in what was then Christiania in 1819 and was initially just a meeting point for trading ships, ship shares, foreign currencies and other goods. The trading of securities began in 1881 , in 1988 it was expanded to include electronic trading and since 1999 the stock exchange has been a pure computer exchange .

In 2001 Oslo Børs was converted into a listed stock company. The financial service provider DnB NOR owns 18% of the shares, the rest is in free float.

In July 2009 it became known that the NASDAQ stock exchange , which until then held around 6% of the shares in the Oslo Stock Exchange, had sold its stake. The decision for this is based on the new technology partnership for the new construction of the Oslo trading system that the Oslo Stock Exchange entered into with the London Stock Exchange (LSE), a main competitor of NASDAQ. With this decision, the strategic objectives that NASDAQ originally pursued through the shareholding became obsolete.
