Egg trullers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eiertrullern or Eiertrüllen is in Ostfriesland common custom. On Easter Sunday , children (and adults) play egg trullers with the hard-boiled eggs received at Easter on the dike, on the East Frisian Islands in the dunes, or other available elevations ( e.g. Plytenberg , Eierberge in Wallinghausen ). You build tracks in the sand of the dunes and let the eggs roll down on these tracks. The winner is the one whose egg gets the furthest and remains undamaged. The losers have to give their eggs to the winner. For reasons of nature conservation, "egg trollers" are now also offered at Easter on artificially raised sand dunes on the beach.

Another common custom in East Friesland in connection with Easter is egg biting . Here, two opponents beat their Easter eggs against each other. Whose egg is damaged first has lost.

In parts of the district of Leer the eggs are also thrown.
