A general

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In his book Ein General ( The General , 1936), Cecil Scott Forester describes the life of the British soldier Herbert Curzon , who by chance wins a battle in the Boer War , then spends nine boring years in a cavalry regiment before finally fighting in the First World War in 1914 . There he gets into the murderous first battles, gets command of a brigade because he is brave and survived. From 1915 to 1918 he took part as a commander in the material battles on the Somme and was eventually wounded during the German spring offensive in 1918.
