The abbreviation is DPST meaning " D ouble P ole S ingle T HROW " (German about "double-pole simply umlegend"). DPST is often referred to as “ Double Pole Single Through ” or “ Double Pole Single Touch ”. Internally, it consists of two single-pole switches that are operated simultaneously. For example, in devices that are connected to a socket , the live external conductor and the neutral conductor are separated at the same time. Even if the plug is inserted the other way around, the dangerous voltage is switched off.
