Gerhard Lein (born May 2, 1944 in Marburg an der Lahn ) is a Hamburg politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).

Life

Lein grew up in Oldenburg . He does his military service with the Federal Border Police , but was later officially recognized as a conscientious objector . This was followed by a degree in educational sciences with a focus on Protestant religion in Hamburg , and for many years he has now described himself as non-denominational. After graduating, he worked as a primary and secondary school teacher in the subjects of history, politics, German, religion, ethics and work theory . From 1997 to 2009 he was head of the comprehensive school in Lohbrügge .

In addition to his parliamentary work, he is a member of the Education and Science Union and the non-profit society for comprehensive schools (GGG). He is married and has two children.

Lein has been a member of the SPD since 1968. From 2001 to 2006 he was chairman of the Working Group for Education (AfB) in the SPD. For several years he was the deputy of the district chairman in Bergedorf , currently he is a member of the board of directors in Bergedorf and the district of Lohbrügge.

From March 17, 2004 to 2020 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament . There he sat for his parliamentary group on the school committee, the science committee and the culture committee. In the 18th legislature he was a member of the Enquete Commission on School Development.

He no longer belongs to the citizenship elected in 2020.
