Single user computer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stand-alone computers (obsolete) are PCs that have no connection to other computers. These PCs operated as an isolated solution are therefore not networked, i. H. not connected to communication networks.

The German translation of "Personal Computer" can also be called a single-user computer or computer. However, terms such as home computers and workstation computers have become established here . With this use, however, use in the network is not denied, but rather the contrast to traditional screen systems ( terminal ), which were widespread until the 1970s , are emphasized, which are connected to a mainframe and offer little or no computing power .
