Etulia railway accident

In the railway accident at Etulia on December 24, 1938 near Etulia , Moldova (then: Romania ), two passenger trains collided head- on on a single-track line . There was a misunderstanding between the two responsible dispatchers about the station in which the train crossing was to be carried out: According to the timetable , the train crossing should have taken place in Etulia, but was taken to Frecăței station (today Limanske , in Ukraine) relocated. Its dispatcher had not taken note of the change or had forgotten it and also had a train pull into the section of the route. In addition, the visibility conditions were very poor due to a snow storm. 93 people died in the collision and 147 were injured.
