Ice cusps

Eishöcker ( English ice rumples ) called areas where an ice shelf over a shoal slides, it rises and breaks. They differ from ice domes in their lower height of a few to a maximum of 100 meters and in the direction of the ice movement, which is visible through the pattern of the ice crevices. The ice flows over the ice cusps and maintains the general direction of flow of the adjacent ice shelf. Ice cusps can deflect the flow direction of the ice shelf, but with an ice dome that is mainly fed by precipitation, the flow of the ice is directed radially outwards - regardless of the flow direction of the ice shelf. Most of the ice mass of an ice hump, on the other hand, is not accumulated locally.
