Ectoparasitoid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ectoparasitoid is a parasite that feeds on the outside of the body of a larger host organism (prefix: ekto) and usually kills this host through damage due to the deep tissue damage (postfix: oid) . The host may also be consumed completely.

Not to be confused with the term "ectoparasite" for parasites that also eat or suckle from outside the host, but usually do not kill it.
