The El Paso Refinery (English: El Paso Refinery ) of Marathon Petroleum is an American refinery in El Paso , Texas . It was created in 1993 from the merger of two smaller refineries.

history

As the first of the two parts of the plant, the North Plant was built by Standard Oil of California in 1928 . The southern plant was built in 1931 by the Texas Company . In 1972 the northern part was heavily modernized. Both parts are only separated by Trowbridge Avenue. In 1993 the two previously independent refineries were merged into a joint venture .

2003 was ChevronTexaco stake in the refinery to the joint venture partner Western Refining sold. With the acquisition of Western Refining by Andeavor, the refinery came to Andeavor in 2017. With the takeover of Andeavor by Marathon Petroleum in 2018, it became the new owner of the El Paso refinery.

Technical specifications

The medium-sized and medium-complex refinery is supplied with crude oil via a 450-kilometer pipeline. West Texas Intermediate and the acidic WTS variety are mainly processed.
