The El Yunque National Forest ( Spanish Bosque Nacional El Yunque ), first known as the Luquillo National Forest , later known as the Caribbean National Forest , is a rainforest in eastern Puerto Rico . It is the only rainforest under the administration of the US Forest Service .
mountains
The terrain of the rainforest is mainly determined by the Luquillo Mountains. This also includes the El Yunque mountain (1080 m), after which the National Forest was named in 2007.
Flora and fauna
The national forest is characterized by a particularly high level of biological diversity.
tourism
Every year the rainforest is a destination for around 600,000 ecologically interested visitors from all over the world.
