An electronic skip protection ( English Electronic Skip Protection , ESP) is a function of a portable music playback device.

With the help of this function z. B. a CD player can play music without interruption despite mechanical vibrations. Playback devices with ESP have an electronic memory that temporarily stores the music. The memory compensates for the content of the file being played and the laser speed. The music is played back without interruptions or jumps.
