Font sample: Element

Element is a broken grotesque font that was developed in 1933 by Max Bittrof in the wake of Tannenberg for the Bauer foundry . Its appearance is characterized by “robust curves and dynamic line width differences” (quote: Andreas Koop) . Allusions to the formal language of Art Nouveau are evident. It is primarily suitable as a poster font.

Cuts

In 1933/1934, Element released four different styles : normal (1934), half fat (1934), bold (1933), narrow fat (1934).
