from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1983 the elite race was held for the 37th time on the trotting track in Gelsenkirchen .

prehistory

In the 37th elite race, the race price was reduced by 50,000 DM. Ianthin , the French-bred stallion, had won the Prix René Balliére at the Hippodrome de Vincennes in Paris 14 days earlier . He had won in the considerable kilometer time of 1: 14.2 (1min. 14.2 sec.) Over the race distance of 2,100 meters. Above all, there was victory in the Elitloppet in Solvalla , endowed with 580,000 Swedish kronor (at that time just under 194,000 DM) , in which he prevailed in the final run against the two American-bred Spice Island and Snack Bar . The kilometer time in Sweden was 1: 13.2 over the mile distance. The three horses met again in the elite race in Gelsenkirchen. Ianthin was sent into the race by the betting audience with a winning goal of 20:10 (2.0 for € 1 today). Behind them were the Snack Bar for a tote of 32:10, and the German hope Spice Island (Cicero stable) with Kurt Hörmann in the sulky .

Race course

The 37th elite race started on Sunday July 10th at 4:54 pm. Shortly after the start, Ianthan galloped in the fight for the lead and was disqualified. Due to the handicap of the successor Lutin d'Isigny and his evasive maneuver, Snack Bar also galloped . Even Space Iceland came out of step and was the third horse disqualified red (too much canter). So now the way was set for the outsiders. Kombo (winning goal 168: 10) showed good form with champion driver Heinz Wewering in the sulky and reached the home straight behind Dartster F. The French chestnut stallion Lutin d'Isigny with Jean-Paul Andre showed up, and it developed into a dramatic finish between the Frenchman and the leading Sweden Dartster F . Only shortly before the line did Lutin d'Isigny have a head-length lead and won in a kilometer time of 1: 16.2 over the race distance of 2,500 meters. Second horse was Dartster F with a length ahead of Kombo . Lancon and Keystone Patriot followed two lengths apart . Nathalia Trot finished behind the flag (more than 10 seconds behind the winner). 10 horses were running.

The race prizes (value) were divided into 70,000 - 35,000 - 20,000 - 15,000 and 10,000 DM among the first five places.

Follow-up

For the win (outright bet) of Lutin d'Isigny , 92.-Marks were paid back to the weather for 10 Marks. Lutin d'Isigny paid 26:10 in the place bet , Dartster F 54:10 and combo 26:10.

The odds of the two -way bet for Lutin d'Isigny - Dartster F were 10 in 1824. In the triple bet there was a sensational 163164: 10 for the order Lutin d'Isigny - Dartster F - Kombo (163,164 Mark profit for 10 Mark stake).

After the elite race, Ianthin only starts once again in France and thus ended his racing career on November 7th.
