Alsatian char

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alsace char ( Salvelinus alpinus × fontinalis ) is an edible fish of as, crossing product from Arctic char ( Salvelinus alpinus ) and brook trout ( Salvelinus fontinalis ) is obtained. The crossing is intended to combine the desirable properties of both parent species ( heterosis effect ). Brook trout grows faster, while arctic char has better slaughtering characteristics.

The Alsatian char is intermediate in appearance, that is, it has a mixture of the appearance of both parents. It shows white fin edges on the pair of fins (pectoral fins and pelvic fins) and on the anal fin. The marbling typical of char is pronounced in the Alsatian char in its intensity between the lighter of the arctic char and the stronger of the brook char. Usually the animals of the maternal kind are somewhat more similar than the paternal species.
