Elugelab

Elugelab (or Elugelap , Eluklab on the adjacent map) was an island in the Eniwetokatoll of the Marshall Islands . The island, which is around 500 meters long and half as wide , was completely destroyed on November 1, 1952 by an attempt as part of Operation Ivy to develop hydrogen bombs . The experimental set-up, named Ivy Mike , had an explosive force of 10.4 megatons of TNT equivalent , about 750 times as much as the Little Boy bomb that destroyed Hiroshima .
