eluvial

eluvial is a term used in geology and soil science and means "washed out" or washed out by natural processes. The following phenomena are possible:

  • the enrichment of certain substances through the removal ( leaching ) of the surrounding material originally associated with them. A typical example is the formation of "eluvial soaps ".
