eluvial
eluvial is a term used in geology and soil science and means "washed out" or washed out by natural processes. The following phenomena are possible:
- the enrichment of certain substances through the removal ( leaching ) of the surrounding material originally associated with them. A typical example is the formation of "eluvial soaps ".
- the depletion of certain substances and minerals due to their leaching from the surrounding matrix. Typical for this: The chemical leaching of certain minerals from the soil horizon .
