Emboys of the Kata Taikyoku Shodan

Embusen or Enbusen ( jap.演武線) means the baselines, where the demonstration of a Japanese Martial Arts - Kata follows.

Kata is understood to be defined movement sequences of a choreographed fight. It always follows the so-called Embusen. These are imaginary lines that are mostly perpendicular or parallel to the starting position of the fighter (s); but sometimes also at an angle of 45 °.

Some Embuses require or serve to ensure that the fighter takes the exact starting position again at the end of the performance. In some schools they are interpreted strictly and it is then always required that the start and end points are identical.
