The Emerald Lake (English for " Emerald Lake ", Tamil எமரால்டு ஏரி Emarālṭu ēri ) is an inland body of water near Udagamandalam (Ooty) in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu .

The reservoir is located in the middle of the Nilgiri Mountains . To the south, bounded by the dam, is Avalance Lake .
