End without receipt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"End without acknowledgment" is a phrase originally used exclusively on radio to end the conversation, with the note that the person addressed should not answer it. This is mainly used when it is a matter of clear information (with several recipients), whereby an answer is superfluous and at most an acknowledgment of receipt would be, which would unnecessarily burden or even overload the transmitter and radio traffic . An example of this is a radio search in the police radio , in which the control center (or another authorized body) passes through the search details and concludes the search notification with the statement "End without receipt" and thus bypasses an acknowledgment of receipt from each individual recipient (this feedback would keep the radio channel for a long time Occupying time more or less unnecessarily and thus possibly preventing the sending of more important messages).

In the meantime, “end without acknowledgment” is also occasionally gaining ground outside of what is spoken, for example in SMS or instant messenger messages (with several recipients), whereby the abbreviation EoQ is usually used in writing. The reasons for using mostly unambiguous messages are similar to those in the area of voice radio (reduced effort for recipient and sender), but here, for example with SMS messages, there is also the fact that the recipient can be saved costs because he can be so secure not having to send a confirmation of receipt.
