Endo-EKG
The endo-EKG (e.g. Alphacard ) is an electrocardiographic and direct option to check the position of the catheter when a central venous catheter is placed . This is done after the ZVK has been inserted with the help of a connected additional module. The electrical be heart potentials passed through the catheter and the amount of the P-wave on EKG - Monitor read.
- Advantage:
- Immediate position control of the ZVK
- no unnecessary x-ray exposure
- no associated transport of the patient
- Disadvantage:
- no precise assessment of cardiac arrhythmias , especially atrial fibrillation with a missing P-wave.
