Enel Américas is a Chilean company based in Santiago de Chile .

The company was founded in 1921 and changed its company to Enersis in 1988 . Enersis divided into the subsidiaries Chilectra and Río Maipo in the energy market; the subsidiary Manso de Velasco is active in the electronics sector as well as in the real estate market.

In April 1999 Enersis was taken over by the Spanish company Endesa , a subsidiary of the Italian Enel SpA , which held 60.62% of Enersis. Enersis was renamed to Enel Américas. In May 2020 the share was increased to 62.3%.

The company's generators have a total capacity of 13,700 MW, the distributors supply around twelve million consumers with a total of 45 million people. Enel Américas achieved sales of 14.3 billion US dollars in fiscal year 2019 with 15,411 employees. The company has subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Peru. This makes the company the second largest energy company in South America after Eletrobrás .
