The mill with storage building in 1981

The former windmill in Kollmar ( Steinburg district ) was an earthen wall Dutch mill with a compass rose. Together with the miller's house and the storage building next to it, the ensemble was one of the few preserved historical mills in Schleswig-Holstein until 2003. It was repaired and maintained over the years with funds from the preservation authorities .

history

The history of the mill goes back to 1692. In 1815 the windmill and miller's house were rebuilt. In the same year, Oevelgönne Castle, built in Kollmar in 1586, had to be demolished due to its dilapidation. Remnants of the castle were used in the construction of the miller's house. The pilasters on the door frame of the house come from z. B. from the castle. In 1928 the thatched storage building was built in the neo-baroque style.

A fire on November 19, 2003 completely destroyed the windmill and the storage building. The miller's house was severely damaged.
