Ennistymon or Ennistimon (current spelling on official signposts) ( Irish : Inis Diomáin ) is a small town in County Clare in the Republic of Ireland , near the west coast of Ireland . It has 1045 inhabitants (2016) and is a popular tourist town with a typical Irish main street with many traditional pubs. Behind the main road runs the River Inagh , which has several rapids called "the Cascades". A bridge over the river leads to nearby Lahinch on the N67 ; the city is connected to Ennis by the N85.

On May 6, 2010, a light earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale occurred in the area around Ennistymon ; it was the first earthquake in West Clare since measurements began in 1978.
