Lahinch
Lahinch (also Lehinch , Irish An Leacht ) is a place with 607 inhabitants (2006) on Liscannor Bay of the Atlantic in County Clare in the west of Ireland .
The place has a couple of pubs and shopping. north of Lahinch the River Inagh flows into Liscannor Bay.
Place name
The English name of the place is the Anglicized spelling of the older Irish name of the townland in which the place is located: An Leithinse ("the peninsula"). Today both the townland and the place carry the name Lehinch (local Lahinch ) in English .
In Irish today, both the townland and the place bear the name An Leacht ("the tomb") after the old Irish name of the place Leacht Uí Chonchubhair ("the tomb of O'Connor"). In Irish, the full name of the place is also used, but in modern spelling: Leacht Uí Chonchúir .

Sports
Lahinch is considered in terms of surfing as one of the best places in Ireland, which is also seen in the number of surfing schools in the resort. However, access to the beach is z. Sometimes very cumbersome, even dangerous in high waves. Swimming is not recommended at high tide, even if lifeguards are usually on site. There is also a well-known golf course .
