Enrique Esquivel

Enrique Esquivel (* in Mexico ; † ibid), better known as "La Matona" (the brawler), was a Mexican soccer player who was part of the main lineup of Mexico's first national soccer team , which in 1923 played six friendly matches against its southern neighbor, Guatemala. Esquivel played in all six games and always played on the position in the right defensive midfield.

All that is known about his club career is that he joined Pachuca AC in 1916 , with whom he won the Mexican championship in 1918 and 1920 . He then moved, together with his teammate Horacio Ortiz , to the capital for Club America , with which he won the championships in 1925, 1926 and 1927 .
