Idealized EAM process

Enterprise Application Management (EAM) is a management process which, in the narrower sense, brings about the coordination between IT and business areas. Enterprise Application Management controls and manages the process of designing the application landscape from the current ACTUAL to the target application landscape. To this end, projects are brought into being, which in turn are the responsibility of the actual business areas.

In IT-intensive industries , for example banks, insurance companies and logistics, the implementation of the business strategy and business processes is very closely linked to the application landscape. For these companies, the design, control and expansion of the application landscape is of particular importance for business success. This is particularly evident for companies whose business model is mainly made possible by IT applications, for example direct banks . Therefore, in addition to the classic management processes, an active management process is required to design, control and expand the application landscape. This process is known as Enterprise Application Management .
