Epigastric angle

epigastric angle or angulus infrasternalis

The epigastric angle ( angulus infrasternalis ) is formed by the meeting of the right and left costal arches at the sword process ( processus xiphoideus sterni ), it is normally about 80 °.

The German name is derived from the epigastrium , which roughly describes the area from the navel to the costal arch above and thus lies in the interior of the angle.
