Epimerone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The epimeron is the posterior chitinous plate of the pleural area on the chest section ( thorax ) of the insect . Together with the episternum , from which it is separated by the pleural fold , it forms the main part of the pleurite , on the side lies the wing joint, which is formed by the basalar on the episternum and the subalar on the epimeron.

The episternum serves as a rear stiffening element between the tergum and the sternum . The name is derived from the Greek "epi" for "on", "to" and "after" as well as the Greek "meros" for "part" or "limb".
