EpsTk

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EpsTk stands for "Encapsulated PostScript Toolkit" and consists of pure GNU Octave or MATLAB script files that can be used to generate extensive 2D graphics. EpsTk is used in many cases as an alternative to Gnuplot as a function plotter , since the graphics routines run in both Octave and MATLAB without any program changes. The creation of bitmaps or the import of other graphic objects are also decisive advantages over Gnuplot. The graphics output in Encapuslated PostSpript enables diverse further processing. It makes sense to use a PostScript interpreter such as B. Ghostscript or Ghostview.

history

The graphics package was written in 1997 by Stefan Müller in FGAN and released under the GPL. In 1999 it was included in the Debian distribution as an installable package under the name "octave-epstk" and has since become very popular.

properties

Most scientific graphics can be created with EpsTk . Images, text and plots can be combined as desired and are output as postscript or bitmap files.
